Deborah Bellamy

Hello I am Deborah Bellamy. Let me introduce myself.
I am fulfilled as a Communication Consultant, Coach, Trainer.

I have been running my own business for over the last 15 years and have freelanced most of my working life.
I am based in Vienna, Austria and work in Austria, Eastern Europe and India.
I have trained, coached, and consulted, using both conventional and less conventional approaches. My background as a Superlearning teacher in Adult Education, G.I.M (Guided Imagery and Music for individuals / groups, and a presentation trainer have influnenced me as a Certified Nonviolent Communication Trainer for organisations, institutions, couples and individuals.

I enjoy collaborating with a range of collegues to support the development of organisations, teams, partnerships and individuals.

I was born in Malta 1958. Grew up in England with my 3 sisters and parents.
Hitched around South America for one year. Lived on a 12 metre sail boat for 4 years. (Got terribly seasick). Lived in San Francisco, California (left a piece of my heart there.) Broke my arm Hang gliding in Austria. (Learnt my first German words "Es tut Weh"). Rode a 500cc motorbike for 7 years. I have a passion for nature, and animals therefore spend my free time in the "Waldviertel" (N.W. Austria) with my partner, stepson, border collie and friends on our old Farmhouse.

It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing!

I'm half US-American (NY) and half Austrian - which doesn't mean very much since I spent my childhood and adolescence in different countries in Europe and the Middle East.

This has taught me 6 languages and the realization that nothing is "normal" or can be taken for granted! At the moment I'm living mainly in the Sauwald - just my partner and me alone in the woods - and boy! Living in the country is yet again another cross-cultural experience!

I enjoy the contrast in my life very much - spending my professional life with large groups of people from all over the world, interacting with them, directing group processes, becoming involved in participants' views of the world and their experiences, travelling, and then retreating again to my quiet spot in the forest, where I collect herbs and listen to the grass grow all by itself!

I had the joy and privilege of raising 3 wonderful daughters, and they also had a lot to teach me!

Currently I'm involved with a horse! And that is yet again a fascinating learning experience ….

Educational background

• PH.D in Oriental Studies and Applied Linguistics with a focus on Intercultural Communication (American University Cairo and University of Vienna)
• Cambridge Certificate: Teaching English as a Foreign Language
• Training in Suggestopedia (Superlearning), Systemic Coaching, NLP, Nonviolent Communication

I have been working as a free-lance trainer and coach for over 20 years, constantly adapting my approach and my repertoire to whatever I have been learning.

I work mainly for Multinational Companies, training their employees in Communication Skills, Presentation Skills, Sales Skills, Negotiation, Intercultural Communication, Time Management.

I also offer open seminars in Nonviolent Communication, as I am dedicated to bringing this life-changing method to as many people as possible! I have trained teachers, mediators, therapists, parents, social workers, managers, Buddhist monks (!), unemployed people, students, ……

Deborah and me founded the Network NVC Austria in 2003, and we are celebrating seeing it grow and develop! I also offer workshops in "Conscious Co-creation", as I am eager to see us all using our creative powers to create a world we are proud of!
